Tyrina attended and moderated a session on the Peers Role in Prevention Wednesday, March 6th. The presentation explored the feasibility of police and fire departments mapping all drug overdoses and interactions to provide intervention for help and improve access to services and referrals and pilot a data-driven proactive rapid response team in Winnebago County that aims to prevent overdose deaths. One of the greatest assets of the app is the connection to the Solutions Peer Response Team (SPRT) which is the group of people that answer the "talk to someone" feature. This 24-7 program was launched in September of 2022 with the purpose to meet people where they're most vulnerable, in crisis, or in desperation. The team may meet people in the jail, at the homeless shelter, at the recovery club, after EMS has responded to someone having a nonfatal overdose that isn't transported to the hospital, or various places throughout the community. In the year of existence, the Solutions Peer Response team has serviced 907 unique individuals and had 4,623 interactions with people meeting them where they're at. Success continues to grow in helping people find emergency shelter, residential treatment, and sober living.
