Virtual Course: During this reporting period progress was made on the development of the virtual Fundamentals of Task Force Operations training. Once BJA approved, each of the module storyboards were converted into videos and underwent several review phases.
The following are the phases of the project that the modules were at during this reporting period.
1. Alpha review phase: This is the first draft of the video which is reviewed internally by IIR staff, including former law enforcement IIR personnel experienced with task forces.
2. Beta review phase: This second phase of video review incorporated edits from the alpha phase and included reviews both internally by IIR as well as by BJA Senior Policy Advisor, David Adams, and CenTF SME trainers experienced in teaching the in-person Fundamentals of Task Force Operations course and who are experienced law enforcement leaders with extensive task force expertise.
3. Quality control (QC) phase: Once the videos complete the beta review, including approval from Mr. Adams, BJA, the revised modules then undergo a formal editorial review by IIR’s QC editors.
By the end of this period, the statuses for each of the seven modules was as follows:
Module 1―Leadership: QC phase
Module 2―Constitutional Policing: In development for alpha phase
Module 3―Task Force Policies and Procedures: Beta review phase
Module 4―Personnel and Training: Beta review phase
Module 5―Confidential Informants Management: Alpha review phase
Module 6―Operations Planning and Risk Management: Beta review phase
Module 7―Managing Critical Incidents: Alphah review phase
