Objective 5: Place data analysts in residence at State DOCs to increase the utility of data for decision-making while also building the corrections analyst workforce

1/31/24 - Video call with Debbie Richmond (Criminal Justice Specialist) and Rebecca Hildebrand (Research Analyst) at WVDCR to discuss the SOW and agency needs and finalize dates, actions, roles, and responsibilities for the project. Additionally, there was a post-project sustainability discussion, specifically about dashboard management when the project is finished. (2 people in attendance representing 1 agency)
2/7/24 - Video conference with Rebecca Hildebrand (Research Analyst) at the West Virginia Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to discuss the best technology for the project. CSG Justice Center staff will research and present options to IT to identify the best option. Additionally, Rebecca walked CSG Justice Center staff through the process for gathering and reviewing data for the WVDCR monthly report. (1 participant representing 1 agency)
2/14/24 - Weekly call with WV Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (WV DCR) staff to discuss the tools used to deploy the data dashboard. This meeting was attended by Rebecca Hildebrand (Research Analyst) and CSG Justice Center staff. During the call, the WV DCR team was presented with a draft technology stack for sustaining the data visualization required in the dashboard. (1 participant representing one agency)
3/7/24 - Video conference with Rebecca Hildebrand (Research Analyst) and Debbie Richmond (Criminal Justice Specialist) at the West Virginia Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to discuss the proposed data pipeline and viability. Additionally, the team discussed the incorporation of data from the medical department records and department of administrative records. (2 participants representing 1 agency)
3/27/24 – Video conference with Rebecca Hildebrand (Research Analyst) and Debbie Richmond (Criminal Justice Specialist) at the West Virginia Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to discuss project updates. The RCA developed a dashboard based on retention and identified potential metrics to be reflected in a report.
4/10/24 – Video conference with Rebecca Hildebrand (Research Analyst), Michael Young (Correctional Officer), and Debbie Richmond (Criminal Justice Specialist) at WVDCR to discuss the best method for centralizing flat files and how to move forward with the project. Additionally, project updates and the top three focuses of the dashboard were discussed. (3 participants representing 1 agency)
4/17/24 – Video conference with Rebecca Hildebrand (Research Analyst) and Debbie Richmond (Criminal Justice Specialist) at WVDCR to discuss dashboard updates and next steps. (2 participants representing 1 agency)
