Center staff accepted applications and selected six mentor court programs to support both current grantees and the community court field at large.
The following four sites were matched with several sub-cohorts of current BJA grantees to work directly with them: (Boulder, CO; Austin, TX; South Dallas, TX; Spokane, WA)
These four mentor courts meet with their respective sub-cohort of grantees on a monthly to quarterly basis and will host site visits for their respective sub-cohorts during the next reporting period, facilitated by Center TTA staff.
All FY23 grantees participate in these sub-cohorts and the following three FY22 grantees have opted to join both the calls and plan to attend the site visits. (Dane County, WI, Luce County, MI, Paterson, NJ).
Additionally, the following two subject matter expert mentor community courts were selected to offer specialized support as needed:
Orange County Collaborative Courts, CA: This mentor court includes several court types such as community court, felony diversion court, and veteran’s treatment court and can offer visitors a diverse look at different types of programming that may fit in their own jurisdiction.
Cook County, IL: This mentor court has a well-known restorative justice court for youth that offers participant job training, skill building opportunities, and the prospect of long-term employment.
