In January 2023, the Connecticut Department of Corrections (CTDOC) completed Fidelity Assessments with RSAT-TTA faculty at all four of their RSAT programs. In reviewing the findings of the reports, additional training on the topic of modified therapeutic communities (MTC) was identified as a training area that the entire state's RSAT staff would benefit from. CTDOC submitted a request for training and technical assistance for RSAT-TTA faculty to create and present a MTC training that could be used in the future for internal trainings. This training is a follow-up to the original training in 2023 with more practical implementation and interactive aspects.
RSAT-TTA faculty created a proposal for an in-person training over two days for all direct treatment staff and supervisory staff involved in the operations of the therapeutic community. The objective of the training was to introduce the perspectives, concepts, and components of Modified Therapeutic Communities in correctional settings. Practical design, implementation, and maintenance in practice were discussed. Participants left the training with the tools necessary to begin or continue implementation of a Modified Therapeutic Community
The training was delivered by RSAT-TTA faculty on March 26th and 27th.
