BJA’s Access and Recovery Peer Recovery Support Services Training and Technical Assistance Center, Altarum, will be hosting a webinar focused on the unique needs and traits of the BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) communities who interact with substance use treatment and recovery systems. The webinar seeks to foster diversity and inclusion by providing a platform for panelists to share their knowledge and experiences. This webinar hopes to provoke discussion, support, and advocacy for the challenges that the BIPOC community faces in the addiction treatment and recovery space across intercepts.
Learning Objectives
•Identify issues that are unique to the BIPOC community seeking substance use treatment
•Describe the recent disparities in the opioid epidemic specific to BIPOC communities
•Discuss resources to help diminish the disparities regarding the opioid epidemic within BIPOC communities
•Address stigma related to opioid use within BIPOC communities
•Discuss approaches other than treatment that can be used to reach the BIPOC community, such as prevention, treatment, and harm reduction

By submitting this application to BJA NTTAC, I understand that upon approval of this application for TTA, the requestor agrees to keep BJA NTTAC informed of any circumstances that may impact the delivery of the TTA, including changes in the date of the event, event cancellation, or difficulties communicating with the assigned TTA provider.
