Representatives from the four of the five CTI Demonstration Sites were chosen by their leadership to attend the Out to Protect LGBTQ+ Liaison Training in Orlando, Florida. This opportunity was a peer learning experience where the selected individuals were able to bring direct knowledge back to their agencies on public safety issues specific to LGBTQ+ community members, which were addressed in all of their Community Trust Initiative application, subsequent monthly check-ins, and/or quarterly all-sites calls. At the end of the conference, the individuals from the Demonstration Sites were brought together for an informal gathering where they were able to meet their peers and discuss what they had learned during the conference and how what they learned can be applied at their own agencies. The selected individuals were all up-and-coming leaders within their department who would not otherwise have had the opportunity to attend the Out to Protect training.
