On May 5–8, 2024, members of the State and Local Anti-Terrorism Training (SLATT) team attended the Association of State Criminal Investigative Agencies (ASCIA) Spring Conference in Columbus, Ohio. Approximately 180 ASCIA members attended the event. SLATT team members engaged with attendees and provided information regarding the SLATT Program, to include SLATT promotional cards with a Quick Response (QR) code that links to the SLATT website and numerous SLATT resources. In addition, on May 7, 2024, the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) senior policy advisor and a SLATT subject-matter expert (SME) provided an in-person Prepare and Ready: Executive Planning for Agencies in Response to Extremism (PREPARE) training delivery to ASCIA members. The lesson, titled “Organized Violent Extremism at Protest-Style Events,” consisted of a SLATT Program overview and a comprehensive presentation of prominent U.S.-based anti-government and anti-authority protests, with a focus on violent extremist militia activities. Approximately 150 participants attended the event.
