On February 15, 2024, a SLATT team member and SME delivered two in-person presentations at a law enforcement training event hosted by the Milwaukee Police Department and the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Eastern District of Wisconsin, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Each presentation was delivered in separate breakout sessions and consisted of a SLATT Program overview and the Prevent and Respond: Officer Training to Effectively Counter Terrorism (PROTECT) lesson titled, “Organized Violent Extremism at Protest-Style Events.” Prior to the event, SLATT team members developed a training flyer, which was broadly disseminated to promote the presentations and to enable registration. QR codes were provided to attendees at the conclusion of the sessions to access SLATT Program and presentation resources, and to provide evaluation feedback on the training. Approximately 103 total personnel attended the two breakout sessions. Of the attendees who provided feedback, 100% were satisfied with the course, found the information useful, and indicated that their knowledge had increased; 79% agreed or strongly agreed that the course was relevant to their job (21% neutral), 93% would apply what they had learned (7% neutral), and 100% would recommend the course to others; and 100% agreed or strongly agreed that the course instructors were effective and knowledgeable. Course participants appreciated the case studies, lessons learned, and practical application scenarios, with some expressing interest in a similar but longer course to cover additional topics.
