On February 3, 2024, a SLATT team member and subject-matter expert (SME) delivered an in-person presentation at the National Sheriffs Association (NSA) Winter Conference, hosted in Washington D.C. The presentation consisted of a SLATT Program overview and a Prepare and Ready: Executive Planning for Agencies in Response to Extremism (PREPARE) lesson titled, “Threat Assessment Threat Management Overview for Law Enforcement Executives.” The presentation focused on the evolving threats from terrorism and targeted violence and the importance of threat assessment and threat management teams as a means of mitigating mass violence through a whole community approach. Quick Response (QR) codes were provided to attendees at the conclusion of the session to access SLATT Program and presentation resources, and to provide evaluation feedback on the training. In addition, SLATT promotional information was distributed to each attendee. Approximately 55 NSA members attended the training session. Of the attendees who provided feedback, 100 percent (%) were satisfied with the course, found the information useful, and indicated that their knowledge had increased; 100% agreed or strongly agreed that the course was relevant to their job, they would apply what they had learned, and would recommend the course to others; and 100% agreed or strongly agreed that the course instructors were effective and knowledgeable. Course participants appreciated the presentation resources and commented that the SME provided “terrific perspective…about a current and developing topic of great concern to our communities.”
