During this reporting period, weekly coaching meetings with the PREA Coordinator continued. The team discussed beginning PREA standards training for the PC. The team will take two or three PREA standards each meeting and discuss how it applies to HCDC, and how to implement it at that facility. The team discussed the PC attending NIC's PREA Coordinator's Roles & Responsibilities training upon completion of investigator training. The team also discussed the need to have an organizational chart indicate the PC has direct access to HCDC chief administrator regarding PREA matters. Because the agency does not have a website, the team discussed installing grievance lock boxes. Grievance lock boxes were ordered from the options provided by the coaches. Inmates have access to reporting options via tablets. The training PowerPoint and PREA policy was reviewed by the coaches with feedback provided. The staff training presentation was revised. Six candidates for investigators have been identified. The PC is included, and all investigation candidates will complete NIC's Specialized Training for Investigators and Advanced PREA Investigators Training when available. The team discussed seeking Field-Initiated TA for further training for investigators. The coaches agreed to research and provide feedback. TMG will provide a one-day PREA investigations training to BJA-TTA grantees. HCDC will be invited. The team discussed the digitizing of PREA risk screening tool and first responder pocket cards. The PC received an example of first responder cards.
