Our theme is "Hiding in Plain Sight: Recovering the erased stories of our ancestors in the United States and the Caribbean". Our 44th conference will highlight methods of genealogy research and explore the history of ancestors in the United States and the Caribbean. This will give persons an opportunity to learn how to research their ancestors and to identify their stories in and beyond enslavement, to highlight Reconstruction and beyond in the United States and pre and post emancipation in the Caribbean. We want to talk about the lives of African and African descended persons in the Americas, their communities, professions, food, religion, celebrations, resilience and self-actualization. This conference will highlight methods of genealogy research of ancestors in North America and the Caribbean. The conference will also highlight the life stories of persons in the Americas from the 1500s to the 20th century. This would include after 1830s in the Caribbean, and Reconstruction in the United States. This is an opportunity to look at the full picture of African Descended persons in the West/in the Americas from the first Africans to come to the Americas with the role of Spain, France, Great Britain, Netherlands/Dutch in North America and the Caribbean.
