13th Annual Tribal Healing to Wellness Court Enhancement Training -
The Tribal Law and Policy Institute (TLPI) hosted the 13th Annual Tribal Healing to Wellness Court (THWC) Enhancement Training September 12-14, 2023, with 481 registered participants and 342 attendees. The Enhancement Training is a tribal-specific national training for tribal problem-solving courts that features Wellness Court best practices and innovative strategies in the field of Healing to Wellness Courts. The 2023 theme was Celebrating 25 Years of Tribal Healing to Wellness Courts.
Each day consisted of a plenary session and 4 workshop tracks, for a total of 3 plenaries and 40 workshops. Tribal and state courts, mental health treatment providers, scholars, researchers, and technical assistance providers came together for issues unique to Indian country including the incorporation of custom and tradition into the phases and peer-to-peer sharing of successful THWC models in operations. TLPI continues to receive excellent feedback from attendees with 98% of responding attendees indicating that they learned a new skill and 96% indicating they would attend again.
