The 2023 delivery of PREA 101 was a unique and exclusive opportunity provided by the National PREA Resource Center, in partnership with the PREA Management Office at the Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) in the U.S. Department of Justice.

PREA 101 is a 15-week online course designed to train and guide participants as they understand and implement the PREA Standards. This online training opportunity is designed to help PREA professionals prepare their facilities for a PREA audit and carry out long-term implementation of the PREA Standards. PREA 101 is best suited for those who work directly in ensuring sexual safety in a correction or detention facility or agency.

Participation in PREA 101 is provided free of charge to participants.

PREA 101 began on May 8, 2023, and ended on August 25, 2023. This course required approximately 4 hours per week of engagement from the participant and includes both self-paced coursework and scheduled meetings.
