On December 6, 2023, members of the SLATT team provided in-person PROTECT (Prevent and Respond: Officer Training to Effectively Counter Terrorism) training to members of the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, Intelligence Division, during their quarterly meeting in San Bernardino, California. The training consisted of a survival story briefing from a subject-matter expert (SME) who was the first law enforcement officer to respond to the December 2, 2015, terrorist attack at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, California. In addition, a SLATT team member provided a comprehensive SLATT Program overview focused on SLATT training, resources, and membership information for the slatt.org website. At the conclusion of the presentation, attendees were provided with SLATT resource cards containing a quick response (QR) code that linked to the SLATT website and additional resources, as well as a QR code for submitting course evaluations. There were approximately 50 San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, Intelligence Division, members in attendance. Of those attendees who provided an evaluation, one hundred percent were satisfied with the course, found the information useful, found the instructors knowledgeable and effective, responded that their knowledge increased, and that they would recommend the course to others. Attendees noted that the training was “great” and that all the information provided was “valuable.”
