For six months, CJI repeatedly met with the Governor’s office to discuss the status of the JRI effort. After discussing roundtable planning with the Governor’s office, CJI began identifying stakeholder roundtable groups as well as potential hosts and facilitators for roundtables. CJI decided that stakeholder engagement with county commissioners, jail administrators, sheriffs, victims, as well as criminal justice-impacted persons was most important. However, in conjunction with in-state partners, CJI decided engagement with county commissioners, jail administrators, sheriffs, and victims would be more feasible if done via the distribution of questionnaires. Thus, CJI staff focused their roundtable organizing on convening criminal justice-impacted persons. The team hosted one round table for criminal justice-impacted persons in Oklahoma City on October 27th. It was very successful and informative. CJI presented major takeaways from these roundtables to task force members prior to the first policy development meeting on November 20th with the MODERN Justice Task Force.
