The RVCRI team supported one individual from the Crawford County, WI Sheriff's Office and Tremonton-Garland, UT Police Department to attend the two-week FLETC Sexual Assault Investigators Training Program from November 27 - December 8.
The Sexual Assault Investigations Training Program (SAITP) is designed to provide agents and investigators with a wide range of strategies and skills they can employ to conduct compassionate, multi-disciplinary, victim-centered investigations into adult sexual assaults. Through the extensive use of case studies, students will explore a variety of topics including dynamics of sexual assault, interviewing techniques, case organization, collaboration, critical thinking and decision-making, cognitive biases, digital evidence acquisition, and the role of physical and corroborative evidence. The program also proposes to address investigative challenges presented by incapacitation and issues of consent, “stale” crime scenes or delayed reporting, same-sex sexual assault, special populations, and acquaintance or domestic relationships between the victim and offender.
