On July 19, 2023, a SLATT subject-matter expert delivered an in-person lesson from the Prevent and Respond: Officer Training to Effectively Counter Terrorism (PROTECT) course to members of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Riverside Joint Terrorism Task Force, at their quarterly meeting hosted at the Menifee Police Department in Menifee, California. The training consisted of a survival story briefing on the December 2, 2015, terrorist attack at the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, California, along with an overview of the SLATT Program, resources, and membership information for www.slatt.org. In addition, SLATT resource cards were disseminated to all the attendees.
There were approximately 68 attendees at the PROTECT training event. Of those attendees who provided an evaluation, 100% were satisfied with the course, found the information useful and the instructors knowledgeable and effective, and responded that their knowledge increased and that they would recommend the course to others.
Attendees commented that the presentation was “great, informative, and heartfelt,” and that the “critical incident debrief gave great insight and things to think about for future events.”
