TLPI collaborated with partner organization RuralCap for a plenary session presentation. On May 3, 2023 TLPI Consultant Korey Wahwassuck co-presented with Judge Evelyn Dolchok on joint jurisdiction courts for the Plenary #2: "Success Stories in Joint Jurisdiction Courts" at the American Indian Justice Conference. This session highlighted successful joint jurisdictional court models in Minnesota and Alaska. Joint jurisdiction courts provide an example of how tribal and state collaborations can help to improve justice system services. Judge Dolchok and Judge Wahwassuck, two joint jurisdictional court practitioners, discussed their experiences in developing and working with a joint jurisdiction court. Each presenter highlighted the way the joint jurisdiction court they work with was formed, the types of issues and cases the joint jurisdiction court has been able to resolve and the impact of their respective joint jurisdiction court on the communities they serve
Presenters/Panelists:
Honorable Korey Wahwassuck, Judge Ninth Judicial District, Minnesota
Honorable Evelyn Dolchok, Chief Tribal Judge, Henu Community Wellness Court, Kenaitze Indian Tribe
