In April, CSG Justice Center staff continued to socialize the guidelines and engage key partners in the field, further developed outreach strategies and project next steps, continued to promote the technical assistance (TA) opportunities application, and conducted a presentation at the Association of Paroling Authorities International (APAI) conference. The project team also reviewed self-assessment tool submissions and finalized the self-assessment tool results page.
Promotion of the TA opportunities was conducted throughout the month by BJA, the CSG Justice Center, and partners at APPA. Promotion took place via social media, organization newsletters, and email blasts to distinct audiences.
CSG Justice Center staff finalized the results page for the self-assessment tool, which provides an extensive overview of the applicant’s overall implementation scores across the 13 guidelines and subcomponents, along with implementation progress within each of the guidelines’ four principles: accuracy, fairness, transparency, and communication and use. This is a valuable resource for applicants because it provides an in-depth look at the current planning or implementation status of their existing post-conviction risk assessment instrument, as it pertains to the national guidelines. The self-assessment helps agencies identify gaps and challenges, areas of success, and implementation priorities. It is recommended that the self-assessment be completed at periodic intervals to track implementation progress over time.
