The utilization of the virtual platforms is a core component of eLearning deliverables. IIR leverages technology to develop and improve virtual learning platforms. Recordings of webinars and podcasts are published and made available for future viewing on the CenTF website’s Training and Technical Assistance Web page.

Virtual Course: The IIR-prepared proposal for developing a seven-lesson, module-based Fundamentals of Task Force Operations virtual training course, utilizing chosen vendor Vivayic, was approved by BJA and a budget modification and GAM submitted to BJA program office. Once approved, IIR coordinated with Vivayic to develop a statement of work for this effort, as well as finalized a contract with Vivayic. IIR held several planning calls, process overview, and initial content plan calls with Vivayic. By the end of this reporting period, calls were being scheduled with CenTF experienced trainers to review and condense the content for module 1—Leadership. Course progress will be reported in the next reporting period.

Podcast Series: With on-site trainings and webinars for this grant completed in the previous reporting period, planning began this quarter for the creation of a new podcast series. IIR met with CenTF trainer SMEs and BJA in brainstorming sessions to identify timely and relevant topics that would address current issues faced by task teams and specialized units. The series proposed by the team is titled "Proactive Policing in Today’s Society for Multijurisdictional and Specialty Enforcement Units." This series will comprise the following five podcasts, which are anticipated to be delivered between 2023 and 2024:
1. “Officer Safety in Proactive Units”
2. “Use of Force Policy Considerations”
3. “Considerations for Specialized Policing Units”
4. “Developing Effective Task Forces”
5. “Use of Confidential Informants in Proactive Policing”

The proposed topics and discussion points were shared with and approved by BJA. The podcasts will be delivered in an interview style, where a moderator will interview the SME panelists using pre-established questions. Podcast recordings will be made available to BJA for review prior to online publishing. The first podcast, “Officer Safety in Proactive Units,” was recorded on June 22, 2023, and once edited and formatted, was provided to BJA for publication review. Following BJA approval in the next reporting period, it will be posted to the CenTF website and promoted broadly.
