NW3C was asked to send staff Justin Fitzsimmons to the NDAA Forensic Evidence Training meeting in Minnesota. Mr. Fitzsimmons conducted four presentations.
1) Advanced Issues in 21st Century Prosecutions
2) Digital Evidence -Nuts and Bolts : Overcoming Typical Objections and Cross Examination of the Defense Digital Evidence Witness
3) Utilizing Technology to Persuasively Present Multiple Types of Scientific Evidence
4) Countering Attacks to Use of Litigation Technology, Animations, Simulations, and Interactive Graphics
This entry is for the presentation called Countering Attacks: The faculty member will discuss the myriad of challeges inherent with forenisc evidence in investigating, prosecuting, and presenting forensic evidence. He will address: the differing types of issues that arise, the process and importance of re-evalation of all evidentiary aspects of the case; anticipating and preparing for traditional obstacles; effective team collaboration; re -testing evidence, as well as practical, legal, and technical considerations. The role of preparing motions in limine, and limiting instructions will also be discussed for use of visual computer enhanced animiations and simulations.
