NW3C will send Randy Stickley to conduct presentations at the IALEIA/LEIU conference in Las Vegas. Ms. Stickley conducted two co-branded sessions entitled "Critical Thinking and Biases in Analysis." Both workshop sessions were one of two certified offerings to obtain "Fundamentals in Criminal Intelligence" certificate. Both sessions garnered a little over 400 attendees. This entry is for the second presentation.
Joint presentation delivery for IALEIA's international training conference. Workshop will be one of two certified offerings to obtain "Fundamentals in Criminal Intelligence" certificate. The presentation called "Critical thinking and biases in analysis" is a 90-minute presentation highlighting the key cerebral challenges to intelligence analysis. It is important for analysts to understand the most effective methods to objectively work toward an assessment with over 180 known forms of bias and cognitive traps which could culminate in analytical failure or fallacy. The presentation helps attendees understand the following concepts:
• The difference between probability and predictability,
• Impact of intelligence analysis in local law enforcement,
• Understand bias and its impact on analysis; AND,
• Implications of more information versus better information in analysis.
