Overview:
Changing culture is incremental in most correctional systems. This panel will discuss ways to incorporate the future of corrections into daily operations, including:
· How medical staff provide an important viewpoint
· How new construction or renovation can positively impact operations
· How to determine if a new or remodeled facility meets performance expectations
· How wellness programs impact daily operations and your long-term results.
Learning Objectives:
1. Participants will be able to identify the benefits of involving medical/mental health staff in the planning, implementation and evaluation of wellness programs for staff and incarcerated individuals.
2. Participants will be able to explain research needed to improve outcomes, both for staff and incarcerated people, in new or remodeled facilities, including purpose-built/remodeled spaces that mirror medical/hospital-like settings and what, if any, long term impacts those spaces have on behaviors and wellness of both staff and incarcerated individuals.
3. Participants will be able to identify the latest results regarding implementing wellness studies in correctional settings.
