The NRTAC hosted the 6th Annual Regional CGIC Multi-Site Training in Indianapolis, Indiana. The Indianapolis Crime Gun Task Force assisted in the organization of the conference and invited participating CGIC grantees to tour their CGIC. This year, the FY21 sites were invited to join for two days, while the FY20 sites were invited to attend only the first day of the conference. The conference was a mix of panel presentations and breakout sessions. Presentation topics included the importance of firearms identification and tracing, privately manufactured firearms implications, innovative ways to incorporate CGIC feedback, GunStat, and crime gun intelligence best practices for community engagement. Breakout sessions focused on best practices for coordination with ATF CGICs, investigative follow-up and intelligence data analysis, and local and federal prosecutors' role in support of the CGIC. Additionally, the ATF held presentations on NESS and the updated Minimum Required Operating Standards (MROS).
The attending sites include 3 replication sites, part of the National CGIC Initiative:
Milwaukee CGIC
Washington, DC CGIC
Los Angeles CGIC
Additional observation sites include:
