The Drug Monitoring Initiative (DMI) is a cutting-edge program with a multi-state drug intelligence capability that collects and analyzes law enforcement and healthcare data. The purpose of the Drug Monitoring Initiative is to establish a multi-jurisdictional, multi-state drug incident information-sharing environment through the robust collection and analysis of drug seizures, overdoses, related criminal behavior, and healthcare related services.
Some highlights of the initiative are:
• The incorporation of public health into the drug monitoring intelligence cycle
• The ability to coordinate the collection, analysis, and mapping of drug incidents statewide
• The expedited analysis of seized drugs to better direct investigators and health resources
• Training law enforcement, fire service, and emergency medical service personnel statewide
This webinar will detail the New Jersey Regional Operations and Intelligence Center’s Drug Monitoring Initiative to support intelligence-led policing and intelligence-led outreach.
Presenter: Lt. Juan Colon is a 22-year veteran of the New Jersey State Police. He is assigned to the Regional Operations Intelligence Center (ROIC) as Assistant Bureau Chief of the Information and Intelligence Support Bureau.
Throughout his career, he has been assigned to various investigative and intelligence units targeting members of traditional organized crime, narco-trafficking organizations, and street gangs.
Over the past two years, he developed, implemented, and managed the Fusion Liaison Officer Initiative, the concept of operations for Super Bowl XLVIII Information Sharing Environment, and the Drug Monitoring Initiative.
