Veterans Webinar Series
Coordinating Legal Services to Support American Indian and Alaska Native Veterans.
Legal Services Programs, Veterans Services organizations, pro bono attorneys and law school clinical programs may successfully collaborate in a variety of ways by using the diverse expertise of available legal services attorneys and creative uses of technology to advance their clients’ needs at a statewide level. Drawing from specific veterans-focused work, a variety of collaborative models will be presented, including but not limited to (1) direct veterans’ focused representation specifically scheduled on a particular time and day where attorneys or law school interns are committed to interview, evaluate and potentially provide legal assistance to veterans’ legal issues, (2) attorney-mentorship programs in which members of the private bar may be called upon to share their expertise in assisting legal services attorneys in particular legal matters encountered in their client representation, (3) online and in-person community education program where pro bono attorneys offer tailored programs on issues of concern to particularized communities, including the area of veterans’ benefits and (4) law school research, clinical representation and practicum work.
