The final in a four-session virtual Community of Practice focused on the state's role in supporting local efforts to reduce the number of people with behavioral health needs in the criminal justice system, Session 3 focused on state strategies to improve housing outcomes for people with behavioral health needs and criminal justice system involvement. In a poll conducted between Sessions 1 and 2 of the CoP, participants resoundingly selected housing as their most high-priority state policy issue area. In this session, CSG Justice Center brought national experts to the table to coach teams through developing winning state responses to increasing access to permanent, affordable housing for people with behavioral health needs and justice involvement. Presenters made direct linkages to the first three sessions of the CoP, drawing clear lines to the importance of collaboration, data collection and information sharing, and funding alignment to advance state strategies to increase housing access for this population. The session also capstoned with teams sharing key takeaways from the CoP and 1:1 technical assistance, inviting discussion and peer-to-peer learning with other states. The session was facilitated by Katie Holihen, Senior Policy Analyst, Hallie Fader-Towe, Deputy Division Director, and Charley Francis, Deputy Program Director from the CSG Justice Center.
