9/30 Intro Meeting with New Bedford site and CHJ & AHP staff. New Bedford stated that post-overdose is their focus and that they have a diversion program named LEAD (a variation of the national model). This Official team started in 2015 – with clergy, police officers, harm reduction personnel. New Bedford recently implemented a mental health component and would like more resources on this training. Co-occurring component is something new to their team – would want more knowledge on this. New Bedford also mentioned that motivational interviewing and harm reduction techniques would be avenues to learn/obtain more resources on.
Proposed TTA plan includes a 4 session virtual trainings of 90 minutes each. Between those sessions will be smaller leadership calls where identified deflection sites will attend to present on a panel on how the training topic can be applied in the field.. The sessions will be: Introduction of cooccurring disorders (1/25/23); Meeting people with cooccurring disorders where they are (2/22/23); Engaging individuals with motivational techniques (3/22/23); Practice using motivational techniques in identified situations (4/26/23). Leadership session presenters include representatives from the Philadelphia, PA pre-arrest diversion program (2/8/23); Plymouth County Outreach deflection program in Plymouth County, MA (3/8/23); Waterbury, CT's Warm Handoff deflection program (4/5/23); Tucson, AZ's police department behavioral health response unit (5/10/23).
