"During this reporting period, the Fundamentals of Task Force Operations Training curriculum, which is taught in person by law enforcement trainers with task force expertise, was expanded to add specialized content regarding serving safer warrants, drawn from Serving Warrants: A Safer Path Forward, developed by BJA’s VALOR Program. In addition, to the six lessons contained in the 2-day course, IIR also worked to develop a seventh lesson for this onsite delivery—a 90-minute specialized lesson on the topic of Constitutional Policing. Some of the topic included in this lesson include information on task force policy implementation, Constitutional Policing framework, laws and their applicability and implementation, examples of real-world cases and preventable lawsuits, reasonableness criteria in use-of-force cases, evolution of the 4th Amendment search warrant caselaw, liability issues, subcultural policing pathologies, reinforcing legitimacy through public trust, no-knock warrant policy considerations, due diligence factual predicate checklist, confidential informant policy considerations, and effective task force practices.
The updated curriculum will also be leveraged and implemented into the content of the virtual course."
