"Early in this reporting period, IIR completed the development of a draft graphics layout of a virtual training course. The goal of the virtual training is to reflect the tenets of the on-site Fundamentals of Task Force Operations Training curriculum. While virtual training does not replace the ideal experience of in-person training, task force training can be addressed via a hybrid online, self-paced learning module which uses adult learning theory to engage users, improve cognition of online course content, and provide for interaction to elevate understandability and application of the principles taught. For this purpose, an IIR curriculum development specialist attended the Kenosha, WI, training in June 2022 to observe the instruction and classroom interaction to determine the best approach for transitioning the classroom content to the eLearning course. Following discussions with, and guidance received from, BJA, IIR will expand the initial graphics shell to create a multi-module-based course, that is self-paced, POST-certification compliant, and includes scenarios, interactivity, quizzes, and more. Opportunities for follow-up virtual forums to allow for candid discussions between CenTF subject matter experts (SMEs) and specific task force members is also under consideration. The course will be supported and delivered on IIR’s learning management system (LMS), which also houses CenTF’s other certificate-based courses. At the end of this reporting period, IIR was in the process of developing a project plan for expanding the virtual course and will provide the plan and budget to BJA for review.
IIR continued to provide online training, available nationwide, as well as provided website maintenance and LMS support, and help desk assistance for the CenTF website, including virtual courses which allow users to earn certificates of completion, such as the:
1. Executive Leadership
2. Task Force Commander Leadership and Management
3. Safeguarding Privacy, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties in Task Force Operations
4. Methamphetamine Investigative Management"
