On 5/26 CHJ connected with Kim to discuss the mentoring initiative. Kim had applied in November 2020 but CHJ had been unable to connect. After a discussion it was determined that TTA would be needed prior to any mentoring. A diversion program does not yet exist for the Brownstown or Jackson police departments and solutions action planning will be needed. Resources were sent including information on the FY21 COSSAP funding and the case study series documents (officer intervention, naloxone plus, self-referral). Another call will be scheduled with Kim and LE representatives to discuss the basics of FR diversion.
6/7 A follow-up email was sent to Kim with some dates to schedule a follow-up call.
7/9 a follow-up email was sent to Kim, CHJ has not yet heard back regarding scheduling another call. If no reply is received by 7/23, this TA request will close. The mentor application will also be closed as it is not appropriate at this time due to the lack of an existing program or partnerships.
7/23 Kimberly asked for a recording of the CHJ webinar held 7/22: How Police and Other First Responders Can Create Recovery Pathways for People With Substance Use Disorders. We provided her with that recording.
