In December, CSG Justice Center staff along with expert consultant (1) continued to develop the draft of the Risk Assessment Guidelines document, (2) reviewed and continued to develop internal drafts of other deliverables proposed for this project, (3) followed up with the advisory group to reschedule the final working group virtual meeting, and (4) developed an initial draft of the Risk Assessment Guidelines companion document.
CSG Justice Center staff held multiple team meetings and meetings with key advisory group members in December to continue to develop the guidelines and discuss development of other proposed project deliverables, including (1) a one-page, user-friendly document jurisdictions can use to relay development and validation results in a simple visual manner; (2) a two-pager for the general public, which explains how the guidelines can improve accuracy, fairness, and transparency in risk and needs assessment tools; and (3) the preliminary outline for the companion guide, which provides greater detail regarding the proposed guidelines.
In mid-December, CSG Justice Center staff reached out to a select group of advisory members, who have continuously participated in conversations and provided guidance for the proposed guidelines, with an invitation to participate in an internal meeting to discuss the direction of the drafted deliverables and any further feedback they can offer. This small group meeting will take place at the beginning of January.
After reviewing the timeline for material development and the additional action items for the project team, the final working group meeting was rescheduled for February 3, 2021.
