The Detroit (MI) and Memphis (TN) CGICs are requesting representatives from their CGIC teams participate in a one-day remote peer-to-peer opportunity on October 28, 2020. Michael Eberhardt and Kevin Armbruster will serve as the P2P SMEs for NRTAC.
The purpose of the peer-to-peer engagement is to provide the Detroit and Memphis CGIC with shared best practices and lessons learned regarding regional CGIC implementation. Michael Eberhardt, SME, will provide a 2-3 hour training for both CGIC teams together on the topic of investigating and prosecuting violent street gangs using the federal RICO/VICAR statutes. Emphasis will be developing an investigative and prosecution strategy to for maximum gun crime sentencing exposure. Memphis and Detroit’s goals are to learn from one another about regional CGIC deployment. The addition of Michael’s training will also provide the investigative support to both sites and allow them to learn from their respective sites as they work through the training exercises.

Detroit and Memphis CGIC representatives provided presentations to their counterparts on CGIC process, best practices, and lessons learned. Memphis CGU provides a remote tour of their mobile shoot trailer. Detroit CGU shares examples of their intelligence products. Both departments discuss questions and topics of similar concern regarding regional application. Michael Eberhardt provides a short overview of his RICO training at the end of the P2P.
