Second Chance Act
CSAMI Grantee Virtual Talking Circles

Intent: Numerous grantees have expressed interest in learning from others implementing co-occurring focused SCA grants. Using a Talking Circle approach, grantees will:
• Establish peer connections to others doing similar work,
• Identify common challenges,
• Explore potential strategies to address these challenges,
• Outline desired topics for future peer calls or one-on-one TTA areas of focus; and,
• Inform NRRC of additional supports or knowledge that may assist CSAMI and other grantees in enhancing reentry services for those with co-occurring disorders.

Structure: All 39 CSAMI sites are invited to participate in one of the three session options. All three sessions will use a Talking Circle approach. An indigenous peoples’ model of facilitation, Talking Circles are a non-hierarchical form of dialogue where all members’ contributions are valued equally, and participants are encouraged to meet one another where they are. This approach seems particularly applicable given the treatment focus of CSAMI grantees.

All three calls will follow the same agenda; however, are scheduled to accommodate the dynamic time zone variation among sites. Multiple sessions allows for smaller groups where more grantees will have the opportunity to speak up and the conversation can remain manageable. Times offered include:
• Friday, May 15th; 2-3:15pm CDT
• Monday, May 18th; 6-7:15pm CDT
• Wednesday, May 20th; 11am-12:15pm CDT

Agenda
I. Introduction Activity

II. Review of Talking Circle Process

III. Talking Circle Facilitation

VIII. Wrap-Up & Reflection
