Description: The PSN TTA team is hosting a virtual training for the AL-N PSN team focused on
improving trauma-informed justice system responses and the intersection of firearms and domestic
violence (DV) in Jefferson County. This training will be led by the National Center for Victims of Crime and
the CNA Institute for Public Research.
This training will develop attendees’:
1. understanding of the importance of interagency partnerships for successful prosecution of DV
cases, including the value of partnerships between federal and local agencies;
2. skills for trauma-informed law enforcement investigations (to include foundational trauma
neurobiology and DV dynamics, early intervention, and better support between local law
enforcement, victim service providers, and other community-based organizations), and
3. knowledge of innovative strategies for evidence-based prosecution (to include improved DV
investigations, considering alternatives to DV charges, and better victim and witness engagement
in DV prosecutions).
Audience: AUSAs, local law enforcement officers, local ADAs, and local service providers
Length: 1.5 days (to include a one-hour lunch break on day one and several 15-minute breaks)
Format: Live, virtual training webinar -- an in-person option is unavailable due to COVID-19 restrictions
