NDCRC will contact individual state coordinators (or local coordinators, if no state coordinator is in place) via phone to introduce UNCW NDCRC staff, discuss anticipated changes in resources, identify specific state and local needs, and obtain information regarding state program and recidivism data entry/collection capabilities. The NDCRC will use this information in dissemination of state, local, and tribal surveys, as well as to focus the development of content for the website and services provided by the NDCRC.

Comments:
Most states so far are excited about the vision for the website as a resource, including relevant documents in compliance with Best Practice Standards, information available by court type, a calendar of national scope organized by event type, and an interactive map with updated court and crime information by county.
Not all states have statewide MIS or other means for collecting data, but have been relieved that the NDCRC will send out a data collection sheet in advance of the survey to prepare those filling them out at state and local levels; state coordinators have been able to explain what information is available from themselves and at a local level.
Most states do not regularly track recidivism data; some states have the capability to search through existing data but may not have the time or money to do so.
States have expressed appreciation for the NDCRC reaching out to introduce itself and are feeling comfortable with an open line of contact for assistance in various arenas.

Comments:
State coordinators continue to express excitement about building a working relationship with NDCRC and the responsiveness to state needs. The new website launched at the end of May does include relevant documents in compliance with Best Practice Standards, information available by court type, a calendar of national scope organized by event type, and an interactive map with updated court counts by state and county.
A lack of statewide communication continues to trend, with states having limited or no reporting. State coordinators seem open to receiving the data collection sheet prior to completing the State Coordinator Survey. The NDCRC continues to identify which states will need to receive a hybrid state-local coordinator survey in the absence of a state coordinator.
Most states do not regularly track recidivism data; some states have the capability to search through existing data but may not have the time or money to do so.
Some state coordinators did not respond to the initial invitation, so interviews have not yet been completed. The remaining interviews with have either been canceled or postponed indefinitely as states adapt to managing treatment court systems during the COVID-19 pandemic.
NDCRC directors heard back from most of the remainder of state coordinators; 50 states have now had direct, successful contact and look forward to continuing relationships with the NDCRC.
