University Park, Maryland Police Department is requesting Insight Policing: Core Skills - Conflict Resolution for Law Enforcement training. This training will allow each officer will develop a skill set that will help them do the following: gain control in conflict situations; stay safe with minimal force; prevent escalation; calm people down; encourage cooperation and voluntary compliance; efficiently and effectively solve problems; reduce litigation and reduce stress. The 8 hour interactive skill based training would be taught by Dr. Megan Price and her staff from the Center for Applied Insight Conflict Resolution.
The University Park Police is an eight person police department in University Park, MD. We provide police services to a town of 2,600 residents. There are no businesses in town and our annual budget is based on residential property tax assessments. We have a very limited training budget and request funding to pay the $1,200.00 training registration for the entire University Park Police Department.
