Join the Association of Prosecuting Attorneys and BJA for "Building a Successful Homicide Committee: Police-Prosecutor Collaboration in Jackson County, MO," an hourlong webinar that is part of the Capital Case Litigation Initiative webinar series. The Jackson County Prosecutor’s Office and the Kansas City Police Department have instituted a successful, collaborative homicide review process. Use of a homicide committee to review murder cases and vote on charging decisions has improved collaboration, increased charging numbers, strengthened cases, and fostered increased mutual trust between law enforcement partners. Presenters will include Captain Jonathan Patton from the KCPD, as well as Chief Deputy Prosecutor Daniel Nelson--both will provide insights into how the police-prosecutor collaborative relationship has improved resulting in a much more cohesive homicide investigation, charging and prosecution process with emphasis on information-sharing and teamwork. Attendees will gain insights into how to replicate this initiative in their own jurisdictions, and will be allowed to ask questions of the presenters during the session.
This webinar is open to prosecutors and prosecution-allied professionals of all experience levels.
