On March 6, 2019, the second session in the Learning Community webinar series for FY18 JMHCP Category 2 Law Enforcement grantees was held. This session focused on strategic planning processes. The session presenters included: 1) David D'Amora, CSG Justice Center, who spoke about best practices/strategies for strategic planning as applied to Category 2 specifically; and 2) representatives from Johnson County, KS (Jessica Murphy, LMSW - Co-Responder Team Leader Johnson County Mental Health Center, Officer Justin Shepherd - Full-Time CIT Officer Overland Park Police Department, and Leslie Ruggles, LPC, LMAC - Overland Park Co-Responder Johnson County Mental Health Center). They presented on their mental health Co-Responder Program and their planning processes, including challenges faced and strategies employed. They also discussed the impact that thorough planning had on implementation, sustainability after grant funding ended, and expansion of the program. Time was allocated for Q & A at the end of the webinar.
