On August 9, 2018, the SAA from the NH Department of Justice submitted an online request form for training and technical assistance under the SAA TTA Project, which is designed to help states prepare for new FY19 Byrne JAG strategic planning requirements. The SAA was seeking assistance with identifying and engaging stakeholders, identifying issues and priorities, working with data systems, implementing evidence-based practices, evaluating programs and policies, and in-person regional training with peers and reference materials. The NCJA contacted the SAA to schedule an initial planning call. TTA efforts resumed in late October when the NH SAA reached out to the NCJA Project Manager to notify them about a new hire, explaining that the previous delay in responding was due to finalization of the new hire. On November 5, 2018, the NCJA reached out to the new JAG manager and provided a copy of the initial request for TTA to inquire if updates are necessary. The new JAG program manager and supervisor joined NCJA on an initial planning call, held on November 8. The teams discussed the opportunities under this TTA program, provided tentative dates/locations for regional strategic planning trainings and shared guidance on JFAA language. The NCJA would send follow-up information about required stakeholders. The NH SAA has to submit memo and proposal to the state attorney general (AG) prior to requesting formal TTA. Anticipating that the AG may advise them to "go it alone" initially, before they are able to accept TTA. The NCJA Project Manager reminded teSAA that all assistance is free of charge to the state. Next steps include sending JFAA language and tentative guidance/steps to strategic planning.
