Alexandria, Virginia Police Department (APD) was chosen to serve as one of three pilot law enforcement agencies to obtain customized officer safety and wellness technical assistance under BJA's VALOR Initiative. The National Police Foundation (NPF) team will provide intensive technical assistance during all phases of planning, implementation, and evaluation. NPF, with the assistance of APD and Subject Matter Experts, will develop and implement an evidence-based “Officer Safety on the Road” Campaign for APD personnel, and develop facilitator-led training scenarios to be delivered during squad briefings on various topics related to officer safety on the road and officer wellness. The desired outcome is to further enhance and develop APD's existing officer safety and wellness trainings, activities, and goals.
