The Miami, Florida Police Department, as part of the Miami National Public Safety Partnership (PSP) site, requested travel support for representatives to attend the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Cellular Analysis Survey Team (CAST) Basic training. BJA NTTAC provided travel support to one representative from the Miami PSP site to attend the training on April 23 - 25, 2019 in Cincinnati, Ohio.
. The FBI's Cellular Analysis Survey Team (CAST) conducts a wide variety of cellular location related analysis that has proven to be invaluable during violent crime and gang investigations. This course will give students a basic understanding of call detail records and the associated location information available within the call detail records. Students will learn how to analyze location information and understand how to incorporate it into their investigations. This training will be a joint venture sponsored by the FBI Safe Streets and Gang Unit (SSGU) and the DOJ Public Safety Partnership (PSP). The intended audience will be a mixture of FBI Special Agents and Task Force Officers assigned to Violent Gang Safe Streets Task Forces (SSTF), as well as detectives from law enforcement agencies in PSP program cities.
