The Municipal and Traffic Court of New Orleans requested training and technical assistance related to the development/implementation of an appropriate pre-trial release (jail) risk assessment tool. BJA NTTAC referred the requestor to the Urban Institute.
The Court strives to reduce the number of defendants held in jail pre-trial; specifically those not released due to the inability to pay the associated bond. Currently the Court does not have a a pre-trial release risk assessment tool. The Court is requesting assistance developing/implementing a tool to systemically assess whether jailed defendants are appropriate for pre-trial release. The U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Civil Rights, suggested the Court contact the BJA NTTAC for pre-trial programming technical assistance.

By submitting this application to BJA NTTAC, I understand that upon approval of this application for TTA, the requestor agrees to keep BJA NTTAC informed of any circumstances that may impact the delivery of the TTA, including changes in the date of the event, event cancellation, or difficulties communicating with the assigned TTA provider.
