This training builds on a training held in October 2017 that brought prosecutors from 14 jurisdictions together to improve the quality and outcome of violent crime investigations through the review of current research and the identification of best practices for multidisciplinary collaboration among law enforcement, prosecutors and others through all phases of the investigation and prosecution. This training brings together the law enforcement counterpart from each of the same 14 jurisdictions to continue the dialog and sharing of information with the same overall goal:

Training objectives include:
• Identifying and discussing new research on promising practices in investigating and improving clearances on homicides and NFS.
• Identifying effective investigative strategies that enhance the investigation during each stage of a case.
• Articulating the intersection between homicides and NFS with the analysis of NFS serving as part of a larger crime reduction strategy.
• Exchanging local “effective” policies and practices in the investigation and clearances of homicides and NFS.
• Exchanging and sharing internal and external challenges in the successful investigation and closing of both homicide and NFS cases.
• Establishing collaborative partnerships between law enforcement and prosecution prior to and during an investigation.
• Identifying law enforcement and prosecutor training and resource materials that can improve collaboration and communication throughout the investigation and that can lead to enhanced case dispositions.
• Engaging in peer-to-peer networking to enhance and expand effective investigative and prosecutorial processes.
