The CJCC Meeting is tentatively scheduled to take place June 27, 2018 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Partners in the planning of this event include the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the Justice Management Institute (JMI). Initial planning for the event began in early October, 2017 as a series of conference calls between partners (NACO/JMI for the CJCC training and with SEARCH for the Regional Trainings).
The purpose of this meeting is to convene local criminal justice coordinating councils to discuss local strategic planning efforts, capabilities and challenges related to justice system. We will discuss better ways to engage with state administering agencies (SAAs) to secure funding for local priorities, and look at the successful collaboration models between SAAs and criminal justice coordinating councils (CJCCs) for effective statewide planning. We anticipate 40-45 participants to include CJCCs from across U.S., staff from NCJA, NACO, JMI, and representatives from our national partner, BJA. A draft agenda for this event is attached.

Outreach to the Justice Management Institute and their network of CJCCs to discuss concept for CJCC convening. The goal of this activity is to foster meaningful dialogue between SAAs and local governments, criminal justice planning entities or councils to increase opportunities for the SAA to engage new potential subgrantees, better align state and local planning, increase implementation and fidelity to evidence-based practices, collect and share information.
Agenda was developed in collaboration with JMI and conference request form submitted to BJA for approval. It was later deemed to be more feasible to conduct this outreach in conjunction with an existing and planned event hosted by JMI and scheduled in June 2018.
Final agenda provided for 90 minutes discussion with attending CJCC members on the last day of their conference.
